Road to Polaris - Gamecity Hamburg brings 5 indie games to the convention

From October 13 to 15, Polaris, Hamburg's new community convention dedicated to gaming, anime, manga, and Asian pop culture, will open its doors for the second time.

Not only will there be lots of content creators, cosplayers and well-known faces from the gaming industry: Gamecity Hamburg will also be represented with a booth at Polaris. As part of the Road to Polaris program, five developer teams will showcase their indie games and give visitors the opportunity to play new games made in Hamburg.

The teams at Polaris 2023:

Curvature Games – „Reddie

In this innovative adventure with VR elements, players take on the role of the protagonist Reddie and perform all kinds of absurd experiments in which they jump back and forth through dimensions and even realities.

Shapes and Dreams – „Beacon Patrol

Beacon Patrol is a cooperative exploration game in which players uncover a growing number of elements of a coastal landscape through relaxing map laying. At the controls of a Coast Guard ship, they explore the North Sea and collect more and more points by uncovering beacons, lighthouses and more until the sea map is completely uncovered.

About Cannons + Sparrows – „About Cannons & Sparrows

In this physics-based sidescroller with puzzle elements, players take on the role of a cannon hatched from an egg and move through a forest in a variety of ways including jumping, shooting and even gliding.

DrownTown – „Light of Atlantis

This 2D puzzle metroidvania, which won the German Computer Game Award (Deutscher Computerspielpreis), combines jump 'n' run with the element of water. The players navigate a small robot through the flooded ruins of Atlantis. The water influences the movement of the protagonist as well as the behavior of the enemies, changes the environment and forms the core dynamic of the game.

Radioactive Dreams – „Turbo Shell

In this fast-paced 2D platformer, which will be playable on Nintendo Switch for the first time at Polaris, players use a unique movement tool to navigate a brave egg through various levels full of obstacles and traps. By purposefully pushing and pulling, a dynamic gameplay experience is created in which players should never touch the ground.
